Emma originally joined Millcreek in spring of 2022 as an Intern. She gained experience learning about the ins and outs of a wholesale nursery operation including shipping, growing, propagating, and also business operations. To wrap up her internship, she completed a project involving biological controls. Emma returned to Millcreek in the spring of 2023 as a seasonal worker to build on her previous experience. In December 2023, Emma graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Plant Systems with a Specialization in Horticulture.
Emma has always loved plants! She grew up on a small farm in Fairfield County where she cultivated her love of plants, especially flowers. She grew her own flowers and sold bouquets in her family’s farm market, alongside raising her flock of sheep, chickens and honeybees with her sisters. She worked part time as a florist for a year in her hometown and fell in love with arranging bouquets. That experience taught Emma customer service skills, how to make floral arrangements, as well as create specialty items like corsages and boutonnières. Emma has a strong passion for the horticulture industry and is excited to be a part of the herb department here at Millcreek Gardens.
Emma and her husband Levi enjoy spending time with family and friends, especially her identical twin sister who also works in the horticulture industry and her newborn baby niece. She enjoys drinking coffee (and lots of it!), visiting various parks and loves to go plant shopping whenever she gets the chance!
