Grower Showcase with Madison

This Week's Star Grower & Must-Have Plant: Madison Linstedt & PW Allium Bobblehead

Madison joined Millcreek in the winter of 2024 after graduating from University of New Hampshire. She started as a Growing Coordinator, but soon was promoted to Assistant Grower of IMPACT and PRO#1 Perennials in July 2024. When the time came around to hire a new Section Grower for the department, her expertise and positive attitude made her a perfect fit.

While at UNH, where she studied Environmental Conservation and Sustainability, Madison interned at Hip Peas Farm, where she gained valuable experience in sustainable production. Before joining Millcreek, Madison also worked for the ODNR, using her knowledge to determine best practices for maintaining natural spaces for the betterment of both the land and people. Here at Millcreek, these skills are still evident, and Madison works hard to deliver high quality plants every day.

Outside of work, Madison continues her love for plants in gardening, a hobby that she has shared with her dad since childhood. Madison also enjoys walking her dog, birding, baking, seeing live music, spending time outdoors, and being with her family. And fun fact: her favorite color is pink!

Proven Winners Allium Bobblehead

‘Bobblehead’ is a charming, super-sized ornamental onion that reaches 2-3 feet high. As blades emerge, they can twist 360° to add a fun and wild look to the blue-green foliage. The dense, playful, perfectly globe-shaped flowers appear in late spring and attract pollinators with their pale lilac color. Hardy, drought tolerant, deer and rabbit resistant, this plant adds whimsical elegance to borders and rock gardens. And since it emerges early, blooms late, and has round seed heads for fall interest, this plant is guaranteed to capture attention all year long.
