Millcreek Gardens is excited to celebrate Madison Linstedt, Section Grower – IMPACT & PRO#1 Perennials and Peonies, for successfully completing the Professional Irrigator “Train the Trainer” for Supervisors certification through the University of Florida IFAS Extension.
This award-winning online program is designed to strengthen grower knowledge, improve irrigation practices, and build leadership skills for training teams in the greenhouse.
About the Certification
The Professional Irrigator “Train the Trainer” course is a five-hour program tailored for grower managers who are responsible for teaching others how to water effectively. The curriculum is built around three essential modules:
Irrigation Principles
Participants learn:
- Why plants need water
- When plants should be irrigated
- How much water should be applied for optimal growth
The 1–5 Moisture Scale
This module teaches growers how to:
- Accurately measure substrate moisture
- Apply the moisture scale to determine correct irrigation timing
- Make confident, data-based irrigation decisions
Hose Watering
Growers learn:
- How to select the right irrigation tools
- Proper techniques for efficient and consistent hose watering
After successfully completing the course and passing all assessments, participants earn a personalized certificate as a Professional Irrigation Trainer. Graduates are also granted continued access to UF/IFAS training materials for ongoing learning.
