PROFILE
Nate began his journey at Millcreek as an intern in the spring of 2020, gaining valuable experience across all departments. Early in the spring of 2023, he returned as an experienced seasonal nursery worker before moving to Illinois. Now, he is excited to be back on the team in the Impacts Department!
While pursuing his degree in Plant Biology at Ohio University, Nate volunteered with the Athens Conservancy, where he built trails and removed invasive species. He also worked in a plant systematics and evolution lab, where his research supported the delineation of five distinct species in the genus Lycopodiella. Following graduation, he worked at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie. There, he monitored state and federally listed species, participated in floristic quality assessments, collected seed, and removed invasive species.
Nate is passionate about plants and enamored by their diversity. He spends a lot of time outside exploring Ohio’s state nature preserves, identifying, and photographing the local flora. When indoors, he enjoys baking cookies, reading, and playing video games.
