Growing Coordinator:
The Growing Coordinator, in collaboration with the assigned Section Grower, is largely responsible for helping to organize, coordinate/plan, and execute the day-to-day functions of a specific growing area.
Job responsibilities include:
- Plant Growing: Performs cultural and growing tasks including watering, pruning, moving, weeding, fertilizing, spraying, covering, cutting, sticking, dividing, seeding, transplanting, cleaning used containers and other production and maintenance tasks for plants in the greenhouses and nursery, selected poly-hut/shade-hut areas and other assigned areas. Collaborates with Section Grower to coordinate and execute daily work plans for given work area. Completes job duties alongside year-round and seasonal team members to meet departmental needs and serves as a resource for information when Section Grower is unavailable. Handles day-to-day work challenges, adjusting to multiple demands and shifting priorities.
- Inventory Management Support: Assists in the inventory management of plants as needed, including noting inventory adjustments either on paper or electronically when moving, dumping, or changing the status of plants and updating inventory counts on an ongoing basis.
- Plant Maintenance & Protection: Supports plant protection and pest management in the growing operations area including scouting, identifying pest problems, pesticide safety training, and all relevant safety record keeping tasks.
- Operational Assistance: Ensures the cleanliness and organization of the growing area, including daily cleaning within areas worked, maintenance and storage of tools and equipment, stocking necessary supplies, returning plants to proper locations and maintaining a neat and orderly appearance of the area.
- Shipping Support: Assists with order handling for plants as needed throughout the shipping season, including leading as Head Picker of a picking crew, pulling appropriate plants for order fulfillment by reading the pick ticket to determine which plants and from which locations to pick, substituting plant material on orders as needed. Growing Coordinator
Millcreek Gardens is hiring for our Growing Coordinator position. The Growing Coordinator, in collaboration with Growing Crew Leaders, is largely responsible for helping to organize, coordinate/plan and execute the day-to-day functions of the Growing operation.
Job responsibilities include:
(1) Plant Growing.
Performs cultural and growing tasks required of the growing operation, with the goal of growing the highest quality plants. This includes watering, pruning, moving, weeding, fertilizing, spraying, covering, cutting, sticking, dividing, seeding, transplanting, cleaning used containers, and other production and maintenance tasks for plans in the greenhouses and nursery. Collaborates with Growing Crew Leaders to execute work plans that are based on daily/weekly/monthly/seasonal growing demands. Completes job duties alongside year-round and seasonal team members to meet departmental needs.(2) Inventory, Availability & Sales Support.
Provides direct support to Growers and/or Growing Crew Leaders with inventory management of plants as needed and assists with availability with appropriate training and experience. Assists with walk-ins and Customer Pick Up (CPU) orders as directed/needed, which includes acting as a designated shopper, helping customers with shopping plant selection, using a tablet to look up crop availability, creating written orders, and communicating effectively with the Office to maintain workflow from a sales perspective.(3) Order Pulling & Shipping Support
Assists with order handling for plants as needed, utilizing crop knowledge/familiarity from the growing season to ensure Millcreek ships the highest quality plants to its customers. This includes leading as Head Picker of a pulling crew, pulling appropriate plant material for order fulfillment, communicating water or quality issues, substituting plant material on orders as needed, referring to individual order instructions and turning in appropriate paperwork to the Shipping Department. Supports and monitors pulling crews by directing, training and developing assigned team members to ensure successful process completion and consistent, high-quality product is prepared for Millcreek customers. Helps with plant cleaning and preparation, pre-pricing, and other shipping tasks,(4) Plant Maintenance & Protection.
Supports plant protection and pest management in the growing operations area, including scouting, identifying pest problems, herbicide application, pesticide safety training and all relevant safety record keeping tasks. Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal/State/Local safety regulations.(5) Additional.
Effectively communicates, fosters teamwork, provides exemplary customer service, addresses changing business needs, and maintains professionalism at all times.Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Technology: Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

- Prior Horticulture/Garden Industry experience
- Language: Spanish proficiency and/or fluency
Office Support Coordinator
Millcreek Gardens is hiring an Office Support Coordinator, who will be largely responsible for executing day-to-day office functions, including order fulfillment, sales and customer service activities.
Job responsibilities include:
(1) Order Fulfillment Support. Utilizes the Rack Item Optimizer and Shipping Board software systems to support the order fulfillment process. This includes downloading data from Millcreek’s online shipping Board and using RIO to create and print Batch Pull reports for use by Picking Teams to stock the supermarket. Responsible for participating in and overseeing completion of cutting pre-pricing customers stickers, stuffing Rack Slip bags with Rack Slip Reports and pre-pricing customer stickers, creating rack labels for Rack Slip bags and handing off completed Rack Slip bags to the Shipping Director. Also runs regular RIO imports to support the order fulfillment function, creates and prints driver logs and assists with customer filing needs.
(2) Sales, Customer Service & Office/Company Support. Communicates with customers via email to provide tentative Shipping List order confirmations for available orders and completed/reviewed Pre-Book order confirmations. In addition, conducts pre-order Call Sheet audits, comparing physical Call Sheets to SBI software information and the shipping board prior to shipment to identify any discrepancies and troubleshoot. As directed/needed performs additional office support activities and supports the sales and customer service function.
(3) Growing & Production Assistance. Following peak shipping seasons, supports Growing, Production and Propagation Departments, including assistance in the production of finished plant material and caring for and growing plants.
(4) Additional. Effectively communicates, fosters teamwork, provides exemplary customer service, addresses changing business needs, and maintains professionalism at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s Degree or equivalent.
- Technology: Proficient computer skills and the use of related technology/software systems, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and Powerpoint, SBI Growing Software and internet applications.
- Must be able to work full-time, 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Mandatory overtime is required in the peak shipping seasons.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: Prior Horticulture/Green Industry experience.

Section Grower – Quart Perennials:
The Section Grower, Quart Perennials is largely responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Quarts growing operation.
Job responsibilities include:
- Plant Growing & Production: Responsible for the cultural and growing requirements of Quart Perennials, including hands-on practice and leading work crews on watering, pruning, moving, weeding, fertilizing, spraying, drenching and covering greenhouses. Tasks may also include cutting, sticking, dividing, seeding, transplanting and other propagation, production and plant care tasks in assigned greenhouses, nursery and shade-hut areas. Improves and simplifies systems and processes, controls expenses and prioritizes workload to maximize productivity.
- In-Season Inventory Management: Inventory crop status using SBI growing software program, including monitoring and updating ready dates, updating comments for crop status, adjusting inventory numbers as needed and performing walk-arounds throughout the nursery to create the Availability that is broadcast to our customers throughout the year. Allocates time effectively, properly prioritizing job demands.
- Resource Allocation & Forecasting: Supports and/or assists in the inventory management, planning and production of plants, including inventory adjustments in SBI when moving, dumping or changing the form of plants, updating inventory on an ongoing basis, projecting quantities needed of each plant variety grown and calculating production numbers of plants needed. Handles day-to-day work challenges, adjusting to multiple demands and shifting priorities.
- Plant Maintenance & Protection: Supports and/or assists in plant protection and pest management in the growing operations area, including scouting, identifying pest problems, formulating control strategies, safe application of chemical controls, pesticide safety training and all relevant safety recordkeeping tasks. Responsible for knowing and complying with all applicable safety requirements (i.e., record keeping, storage, handling, application and disposal). Uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Ensures the chemical storage area is continually maintained in a clean, orderly, efficient and safe manner. Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal/State/Local safety regulations.
- New Plant Development: Evaluates new plants for introduction into our plant offerings by attending appropriate seminars, reading publications, travel to trial gardens and obtaining and growing new plants that could benefit Millcreek’s business.

Shipping Coordinator – Product Accuracy & Quality Control
The Product Accuracy & Quality Control Coordinator, in collaboration with the Shipping Section Leader, is largely responsible for organizing, coordinating/planning and executing the day -to-day functions of the Shipping Department.
Job responsibilities include:
- Product Accuracy and Quality Control: Reviews quality and coordinates the processing of sold plant material for shipment. Primary duties include a) accurately cross-referencing batch pull sheets against material pulled for the supermarket, b) acting as a point person for the batch-pulling teams, c) working with and overseeing the quality control crew at the plant-cleaning stations, d) coordinating with the Shipping Team Leader to solve any issues that arise. Other duties may include, but are not limited to, working with rack builders in the rack prep area. Job responsibilities also include validating and submitting batch pull sheets.
- Shipping Quality & Accuracy: Coordinates with Truck Staging Coordinator and Shipping Section Leader to ensure quality, accuracy, and complete processing of customer orders and to facilitate efficient order movement throughout the work day.
- Shipping Operational Assistance: Manages the Shipping area to maximize the use of labor and space resources. Maintains a clean, orderly, organized, and efficient shipping area, including daily cleaning of floors, maintenance and storage of tools and equipment, stocking necessary, supplies, returning unnecessary plants to proper department and maintaining a neat and orderly appearance of the Shipping area. Follows through to ensure timely completion of all projects.
Shipping Coordinator – Truck Staging
The Truck Staging Coordinator, in collaboration with the Shipping Section Leader, is largely responsible for organizing, coordinating/planning and executing the day -to-day functions of the Shipping Department.
Job responsibilities include:
Shipping Logistics & Execution: Coordinates order organization of all product categories for shipment once material has been cleaned and pre-priced (as appropriate). Serves as the final quality control checkpoint and removes substandard plant material prior to loading trucks. Participates and oversees wrapping, watering, and labeling racks with customer/location information, organizes racks on the shipping floor for efficient truck loading, and loads racks onto trucks for shipments or synchronizes rack loading with other shipping coordinators as appropriate. Once rack loading is complete, performs final count of racks. Responsible for counting and noting rack quantities on driver logs. Assists drivers with truck loading/unloading as needed. Allocates time effectively, properly prioritizing job demands and handles day-to-day work challenges.
- Shipping Quality & Accuracy: Coordinates with Product Accuracy & Quality Control Coordinator and Shipping Section Leader to ensure quality, accuracy, and complete processing of customer orders and to facilitate efficient order movement throughout the work day.

What we produce and how we do it:
Each year, we produce more than one million finished plants in facilities that include over 96 greenhouses covering 223,000 square feet. In addition, our Propagation Department produces over 600,000 starter plants per year. We are equipped with a 3,200 square foot automated Production Facility with two transplanting lines to maximize efficiency in our plant production. We began using our newly built Shipping Facility in the Spring 2020.
